In your quest to know God you can be sure of this -- God Loves You! One of the most heartfelt verses in the Bible tells you, “For God so loved the world (you) that He gave His only Son, that whoever believed on Him would not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
In other words, God Himself demonstrated His great love for you by allowing His Son Jesus Christ to come to this earth and die on the cross for our sins that we may have a vibrant relationship with God and live forever. The Bible says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
Awesome huh! Yes, but the Bible tells us even though God loves us we have a problem! The problem is called sin. Romans 3:23 informs even the best of us that we have all sinned are in need of God’s forgiveness and grace. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” (Romans 2:23)
This means there is no single person who can stand faultless before God. You and I and everyone else have missed the target when it comes to being righteous and holy in the sight of God! Our sin separates us from God and the life He desires for us. We have all sinned and are all in need of a savior. “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus.” (Romans 6:23)
Now what? Acknowledge your sin before God. Ask Him to Forgive You for your sin and give you the ability to change the direction of your life from living to please yourself to pleasing and loving Him! “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
Believe on Jesus. The Bible says in order for us to have a relationship with God, we must believe on His Son Jesus
Christ. Jesus died on the cross so the price of death for the penalty of our sins would not have to be paid by you and me. If we simply believe that He is God’s only Son sent from heaven to die on the cross for our sins, and believe that God raised Him from the grave, we will be saved. As we believe on Him and place our faith in Him, we are saved and begin a wonderful relationship with God. The Bible says, “That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-11)
Now, invite Christ in to your heart and life. He is waiting to say "yes" to Your Invitation. The Bible says, “And everyone who calls on the name the Lord will be saved.” (Acts 2:21)
Jesus also says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” (Revelations 3:20)
How can you Invite Jesus into your life? You can invite Jesus into your life by praying a simple childlike prayer to God. Simply pray,
Father I thank you for your great love for me that you demonstrated by sending your Son Jesus Christ. I ask you to forgive me for my sins and give me the power and desire to live a life that is pleasing to you. I ask Jesus to come into my life and live inside me. I ask Him to be the Lord and Savior over my life now and always. Thank you Father for hearing and answering my prayer--- in Jesus' name. Amen!
